“We are parents and relatives, friend of gays and lesbians, bisexual and transgender people. We represent the community wishing to support those who have different sexual orientation or gender identity. Only due to respecting each other and observing human right for self-identity we can live up to our fullest potential, separately or all together,” Olena, representative of Art Gown parent initiative commented on the photo exhibition.
Let’s recall that 3-day training for volunteers aimed at volunteer movement and Gay House With Boys sex clubs development was held in February and welcomed over 30 volunteers. They took part in workshops, seminars, hands-on trainings focused on team-building, conflict situations analysis, working with initiatives and project launch.
At the end of the training the counselors participated in so-called “aquarium” exercise. Two training participants tried on the roles of a counselor and a caller with gender identity issues. The rest of participants made assessment of the counselor’s mistakes and her wise decisions and then discussed what way of holding a conversation would be most tactful.
